Missouri Care Options
The Missouri Care Options (MCO) program offers information to Missouri citizens about making choices regarding the variety of care options available to them when they may need long-term care. MCO offers home and community long-term care services to adults (18 years and older) who are Medicaid eligible, or potentially Medicaid eligible, and in need of assistance. The Department of Health and Senior Services is committed to helping people live as independently as possible. MCO also offers individuals who reside in long-term care facilities the option of home and community long-term care services if they qualify for care in a more independent setting.
New referrals for home care services can be made by contacting the Division of Senior and Disability Services (DSDS), at 866-835-3505.
What Home and Community Based Services are available in my community?
- Help with activities of daily living such as grooming, bathing, dressing and eating.
- Help with complex physical needs.
- A companion to relieve family caregivers -- giving them time to run errands or attend to personal needs.
- Help with housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, shopping and other services.
- Nursing care.
- Supervised adult day care programs.
What services are available if I can no longer stay home?
- An environment offering daily personal services and assistance.
- 24-hour nursing care offering continuous medical and personal care.
When can I benefit from Missouri Care Options?
If you are considering entering a long-term care facility, you should ask about Missouri Care Options services if you are:
- A Medicaid beneficiary or potentially eligible for Medicaid; and/or
- In need of long-term care at a level usually provided in a nursing home.
