Ambulatory Surgery Centers

The department regulates non-long term care facilities and services, and has regulatory responsibility over ambulatory surgery centers that provide surgical services outside of a hospital environment.

X-ray services (Ionizing radiation facilities)

The department regulates the usage of ionizing radiation machines (x-ray, mammography, linear accelerators) used by medical and industrial facilities within Missouri.

Laboratory/CLIA

The federal CLIA law (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) mandates that any laboratory testing of a human specimen may only be performed by facilities that are properly certified under federal regulations. The Missouri CLIA program oversees this certification program in our state and carries out certain inspections of laboratories on a routine basis, as well as investigating complaint allegations.
