  1. “Fundamentals of Breastfeeding: An 18 Hour Course” - Save the date! The state WIC office is hosting the “Fundamentals of Breastfeeding: An 18 Hour Course” at two different locations throughout the state. This training is for nutritionists, nurses and peer counselors who need a comprehensive course to prepare them to assist breastfeeding mothers with normal lactation and common breastfeeding challenges. Dates and training sites are currently scheduled for the St. Louis area (March 5, 6 & 7, 2014) and Kansas City area (April 2, 3, & 4, 2014).     The WIC Dietitian evaluates participant’s nutritional and medical information to determine Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program eligibility. Develops individual care plans for participants qualifying for the WIC program and provides participant centered education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the WIC Director.

    This position provides peer support to prenatal and breastfeeding woman in the WIC clinic. Breastfeeding promotion and information is provided through individual and group support services as well as with telephone contacts. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the WIC Clinic Supervisor and Breastfeeding Coordinator.
