  1. Shop N Save Cereal Name Change:  Shop N Save brand cereal will be changing its name to “Essential Everyday”.  Attached is the list of old and new images of cereal boxes.  Prior to October 1, 2011, WIC participants may purchase either the Shop N Save brand cereals or the Essential Everyday brand cereals whichever is available at the Shop N Save vendors.

    Effective October 1, 2011, the participants must use the new Missouri WIC Approved Food List, which has the Essential Everyday brand.  Please share this information with your staff and participants.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.   2. New Nutrition Reports:  New Nutrition Reports are available for Local WIC Providers on Crystal Reports in the Clinic Management folder.  New reports include:

    • Gluten Free Rice Chex Issuance Report
    • Infants 0-1 mo, # cans formula - Detail
    • Nutrition Education Coded by Peer Counselor
    • Nutrition Education Follow-Up – Summary
    • Postpartum Blood Work Less than 4 weeks - Detail
    • Prorated Food Packages Overridden to Full Provision
    • Reason Blood Work Not Collected
    • Risk Factor 142 – Premature Infants – Detail
    • Secondary NE Coded to Each Participant
    • Smoking Status: Prenatals – Detail
    • Specialty Food-Formula Req Med Doc I-C
    • Specialty Food-Formula Req Med Doc Women

    These reports add pages to the clinic management folder.  Move through the pages by clicking on the page number in the lower right hand corner of the screen.  Contact your assigned technical assistance nutritionist with questions or comments.

  3. Plastic Sleeve Order for July – October 2011:  The State WIC office has been shipping plastic sleeves to local WIC providers on a quarterly basis.  WIC Coordinators/supply contact persons will receive an e-mail message during the week of June 19, 2011 with a link to the survey to answer questions about quantities of plastic sleeves that your agency needs.  Please complete the survey by June 30, 2011.  If you have any suggestions and/or questions, please feel free to contact Takako Tagami at Takako.Tagami@health.mo.gov.

  4. Public Comment Invited on 2012 WIC State Plan:  The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is soliciting public comment on the proposed Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program FFY 2012 State Plan, which covers the period starting October 1, 2011 and ending September 30, 2012.  USDA requires states to develop an annual plan that includes goals on nutrition services initiatives to promote and support breastfeeding; vendor management; and other program goals.  Additionally, comments are invited on the two revised WIC program policies that are submitted as part of the State Plan.  All public comments are welcome and must be directed to the attention of Lyn.Konstant@health.mo.gov via email, or fax to 573-526-1470 or mail to Lyn Konstant, WIC and Nutrition Services, P.O. Box 570, 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0570.  Comments will be included in the final copy of the plan which will be submitted to the US Department of Agriculture no later than July 15, 2011.  All comments are due to the Department of Health and Senior Services by July 8, 2011 to allow time for incorporation into the final document.  (THREE ATTACHMENTS)
