Department of Health and Senior Services notified of suspected food borne illness in St. Louis region
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has been notified by the St. Louis County Health Department of 14 reports, over the past 24 hours, of food borne illness in the St. Louis region.
DHSS is assisting local health officials in the investigation, including testing specimens for E. coli at the State Public Health Laboratory, and is notifying the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
At this point, the source of the illnesses has not been confirmed. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will continue to provide information as it becomes available.
In the meantime, any individuals experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, including severe stomach cramps, diarrhea or nausea, should seek medical attention.
